The entire country has become Rammay because of the
Ram Mandir that will be built in Ayodhya. Shriram's name is glorified
everywhere. All Ram devotees are waiting for 22nd January. On this
day, the idol of Lord Shri Ram will be enshrined in such a grand
temple. This day is going to be special for all Indians. While the
fame of this temple of Lord Ram is spreading in all directions, the discussion
of a Ram temple has started again from our neighboring country, i.e.
Pakistan. There is also a Ram temple in Islamabad, Pakistan.
This Ram temple was built by a Rajput
king. All these areas had a large Hindu population before
partition. For them this Ram Mandir was a great holy place. The
plight of this very rich temple happened after partition. Partition took
place and the worship of Lord Sri Rama in this temple was also
banned. Once crowded with Hindu citizens, this area is now home to a
handful of Hindu families. Since the construction of Ram temple in Ayodhya
started, this Ram temple in Islamabad has also come into the news. Now the
Hindu families are trying to repair this temple and get permission to worship
Lord Shriram and Hanuman there again.
Ram Mandir in Syedpur village of Islamabad,
Pakistan is now in the news. Locals say that Lord Shri Ram stayed for some
time during his exile in the area of this temple built in 16th
century. That is why a Rajput king is said to have built a grand temple of
Lord Shriram, Mother Sita, Lakshmana and Hanuman here to preserve the importance
of this place.
It is the only Ram temple in Pakistan. This
Ram Mandir is also known as Ram Kund Mandir . It is believed that
Lord Sri Rama spent some time of his exile in this area. So Man Singh
first built this temple in the 16th century out of faith. This temple was
built very grandly by Raja Mansingh. At that time there were many Hindu
families living around Islamabad. That is why there were many big temples
in this area. All these temples were known for their magnificence before
partition. However , after partition, all these temples were
looted. Some were demolished. The temple of Lord Ram (Ram Mandir) was
also completely cleared. The once prosperous temple turned into
ruins.
According to the Archeology Department of
Quaid-i-Azam University, Islamabad , maintenance of all temples in
the area was banned after partition. In the Liaquat-Nehru Agreement of
1950 , it was decided to hand over all these temples to the Refugee
Property Trust. However , Syedpur village and its Ram Mandir
area are still under Capital Development Authority of Islamabad. There are
Hindu families in this area. For them this Ram Mandir is a place of great
faith. Due to their repeated demands to the government, in
2016, the premises of this temple were renovated and handed over to the Hindu
community.
Along with the Ram Temple, there was also a
Gurudwara and a Dharamshala in the same Syedpur village . Around
eight thousand devotees used to come to this village every year. After
partition most Hindus migrated to India. After this Syedpur village and
Ram Mandir area were sealed as enemy property. At present there are
about 300 Hindu families in Islamabad. This village has a
historical background. Very ancient caves have also been found around the
village. Apart from this, the village also had ponds named after Lord Ram
and Lakshmana. Now, due to lack of maintenance, these lakes have become
extinct and their names have also been changed.
The Capital Development Authority of
Islamabad started the reconstruction of Syedpur in 2008 and
it was given the status of ' Heritage Village '
. During the reconstruction, the Ram Mandir area was also
painted. But the idols were removed from this temple. The door of
this idolless temple is always open for devotees. But here now there is a
ban even for worshiping. A girls' school was started in 1960 in
this Ram Mandir complex . The school was shifted to another location after
prolonged opposition by the local Hindu community. The temple premises
were vacated in 2006 . However, Hindus are not allowed to worship.

According to Reema Abbas, a Pakistani writer who
wrote a book ' Historic Temples in Pakistan- A Call to
Consciousness ' on forty temples from Pakhtunkhwa to
Tharparkar , temples in Pakistan have been deliberately taken over by
the government. Apart from the Ram Mandir, there is also a temple of Lord
Hanuman in Karachi, Pakistan. There is an idol of Panchmukhi Hanuman in
this temple. The temple was reconstructed in 1882 . This temple
is crowded with Hindu devotees. The temple of Hinglaj Bhawani, one of the
51 Shaktipeeths of Sati, is located on the banks of the Hingol River, 120
kilometers from Balochistan. Sati's head is believed to have fallen
here. Devotees come here from many countries including India. While
the grand Shri Ram temple in Ayodhya is being glorified all over the world, the
information about the temple of Lord Shri Ram in Pakistan is also being
discussed.
