This is the reason behind putting the word 'road' after the name of the railway station

There are some boards installed in the railway station. The panel where the board is located is marked in yellow color. But have you looked closely at the name of the place written on this yellow board?

After the name of the railway station, the words Junction, Terminal and Road are written. But have you ever wondered about it? Actually these words are used to give some special information to the passengers. There is also a special reason behind putting the word road after the name of the railway station. This term indicates to passengers that the station does not come into town. It is at some distance from the city. This distance can be from two to hundred kilometers.

Due to this, whenever alighting at a railway station like Hazaribagh Road, Ranchi Road, you have to get off the railway platform and take a vehicle to reach the city.

How much distance can there be?

A railway station with a road name may be two to three kilometers from the city. Or it can be a distance of hundred kilometers. Like, Vasai Road railway station is two kilometers away from Vasai. Thus Hazaribagh railway station is 66 km from Hazaribagh city. But the population around most of the railway stations is increasing. But when this railway station was built, no one wanted to live around it. (Indian Railway Board)

Why not build a railway station in the city?

Some cities face barriers to building railway lines so they are built far away from the cities. As such, starting a railway line up Mount Abu was very expensive. So a railway station was built under the mountain at a distance of 27 km from Abu.
