Sharadiya Navratri has started from yesterday 15 October 2023 . These nine days of Navratri are the celebration of Mother and her worship. On these days, the belly of the goddess is filled, she is decorated with fruits and flowers. Ghatasthana is done on the first day of Navratri so that the smell of the goddess should be in our home. A coconut is sown on an urn and soil, grain underneath it is offered to the goddess. Apart from this, a continuous flame is lit for the goddess in these nine days. There are many benefits of lighting Akhand Jyoti during the holy 9 days of Navratri. During these 9 days, 9 forms of Goddess are worshipped. The purpose behind this is that the Goddess in various forms should remain in our home, her blessings should remain. This year Navratri will end on October 23 and Dussehra will be celebrated on October 24 . This year during Navratri, Mother is arriving on an elephant . It is very auspicious that the mother will come riding on an elephant and therefore lighting a continuous flame in the house during these nine days is a very auspicious sign. But it is also important to know how to light this continuous flame and what care should be taken after lighting it. (Navratri)

Installation of Kalash, garlanding and lighting of Akhand Jyoti is of great importance in Navratri. Although there are many benefits of lighting Akhand Jyoti, there are certain rules to follow while lighting this Akhand Jyoti. Burning Akhand Jyoti brings prosperity to the home and blessings of the Goddess. Goddess fulfills all wishes, but where we are going to light this eternal lamp is also important. Whether the lamp of the goddess is made of ghee or oil, it depends on which direction it should be placed. Also, if a continuous lamp is to be installed in the house, the house cannot possibly be kept closed. Because if the lamp suddenly goes out, it is necessary to put it on again. Care should be taken to ensure that this lamp does not go off in nine days. But if the lamp goes out due to wind or oil, ghee, it has to be re-lighted immediately. That is why it is important to take care of it as much as it is good to install Akhand Dipa. (Navratri)

Apart from this, the continuous flame should not be placed directly on the ground. After installing Akhand Dipa, it should be placed on a large plate if possible. Wheat or rice should be sown under it. If this is not possible, a red cloth should be placed under the lamp. A continuous flame lamp should never be placed on the floor. Also draw rangoli in front of the lamp. That lamp should be worshiped every morning and evening.  Preferably a continuous flame is lit in a large brass or earthen lamp. Red colored wick should be used instead of wick in continuous flame lamp. The wick of Akhand Jyoti should be made from Rakshasutra i.e. Kalva. These continuous flames are not lit with cotton wicks. Because the cotton wick cannot be lit continuously for nine days. (Navratri)

There is a risk of it burning quickly. So the continuous flame can go out quickly. To avoid this, a wick should be made from a red color. If there is a continuous flame of ghee, it should be kept on the right side of the goddess. If mustard oil is put in the lamp, keep the continuous flame lamp on the left side of the goddess. It is also necessary to keep a glass cover around the continuous flame so that the wind does not extinguish it. Apart from this, it is considered auspicious to keep Akhand Jyoti in the southeast corner. During the puja, the flame should be kept facing east or north. The lamp containing Akhand Jyot should be cleaned and worshiped daily. Rangoli should be drawn in front of him daily. Be careful while doing this. It is also necessary for all the members of the household to eat sattvic food. Also the food which is prepared at home for nine days. It should first be offered to the Goddess and Akhand Jyoti. (Navratri)
