Lord Tapkeshwar Mahadev Temple in Uttarakhand

Nature's fury is currently going on in the state of Uttarakhand. Uttarakhand, known as the land of God, has suffered losses of crores due to heavy rains and continuous cloudbursts. Many houses have been destroyed. The mountains are coming down. However, despite this, the crowd of devotees in the temples of this Godbhoomi does not seem to decrease. A temple in this Devbhoomi is currently being discussed. Ever since the launch of India's Chandrayaan 3 mission, this temple has been continuously chanted. This is the temple, Shree Tapkeshwar Mahadev Mandir (Tapkeshwar Mandir). The name of this temple of Lord Shankara may sound a little different. For that it is important to know how this temple was built, and the story of Sri Tapakeswara.

There are many such ancient temples of Lord Shiva Shankar in Uttarakhand. These temples are directly related to Ramayana, Mahabharata. Similarly, Dehradun, the capital of Devbhumi Uttarakhand, has a very ancient temple of Lord Shankara. Ashwatthama is said to have been born in this temple. Seven km from Dehradun. Tapakeshwar temple is in the distance. Devotees believe that Lord Shankar always resides in this temple. Therefore, there is an unending queue of devotees to have the darshan of Lord Shankar in this cave on the banks of the river. This Sri Tapakeshwar cave is also known as the birthplace of Ashwatthama, the son of Acharya Drona, the guru of Kauravas and Pandavas. It was here that Drona and Ashwatthama did penance. Dronacharya and his wife Kripi ,He worshiped Lord Shankara in this cave. Pleased by this worship, Lord Shankar gave him the boon of a son. It is said that Ashwatthama was born in his house only after that. (Tapkeshwar Mandir)

According to the legend of Tapkeshwar Mandir on the bank of river Tamsa, this cave was known as the cave of Dronacharya. Guru Drona used to stay in this cave. After the birth of Ashwatthama, this couple could not even get milk for him. Then Dronacharya prayed to Lord Shankara. Lord Shankara was pleased and placed the cow's udder on the roof of the cave from which milk flowed continuously. In the Kali Yuga, instead of milk, a continuous flow of water started at this place. Lord Shankara's position was created under him. It was named Sri Tapkeshwar Mahadev Temple. Here Ashwatthama is also believed to have received the boon of immortality from Lord Shankara. Ashwatthama cave is also adjacent to this cave. A statue of Ashwatthama has been installed near this cave. The cave of Tapakeshwar Mahadeva is considered very sacred.

Tapkeshwar Mandir is located in a natural cave near the river Tamsa. This temple is naturally built since before Mahabharata. This cave is also famous as ' Drona Cave ' because Guru Dronacharya did penance here . There is a Shiv Linga inside this cave . Abhishek of water continues continuously on this Shivlinga.  This natural and regular anointing does not stop even in summer. Many attempts were made to find out where this water comes from. But the original source of this continuous dripping water is still not found. The premises of this Shree Tapkeshwar temple is very beautiful. Basically, many tourists come to this area to see the Tamsa River, which is constantly flowing with milk, and the waterfalls flowing from the surrounding mountains.

A garland of 5151 Rudrakshas is placed around the Tapkeshwar Mahadev (Tapkeshwar Mandir). As the month of Shravan is going on at present, the crowd of devotees has increased in this Shree Tapkeshwar temple. Every year a big yatra is held in this temple area. But this year, looking at the fog created by the rain, the nature of the yatra is not magnificent. Sri Tapkeshwar Mahadev Temple is open from 9 AM to 5:30 PM . A few days ago, a wall of this temple collapsed and 700 devotees were trapped in the temple. But all these devotees were not hurt. He was rescued safely. Due to this, the faith of Tapkeshwar Mahadev of the local people has increased.
